Loral International School Holds Interhouse Sports Competition

Loral international school held their annual inter house sports and it was a huge success.

Over 24 schools in Lagos and Ogun states were invited to the competition, which was part of the annual inter-house sports programme of Loral School. Some of the schools that participated in the relay include: Faith Academy Ota, Ogun State, The Bells Comprehensive College, Ota, Faith Academy, Gowon Estate, Mt Moriah College, Akinwunmi, Ogun State, The Gem International Secondary School, Ogun State, Doseg Secondary School, Festac, among others.

 

 

Female athletes from Queens College, Yaba, beat competitors from other schools with a wide margin during a keenly contested school relay, held at Loral International Secondary and Primary Schools recently.

The sports event was attended by the proprietress of the school, Chief Loretta Nwosu, the Managing Director, Don Ash Group and former Special Adviser to Abia State Governor on sports, Hon Daniel Orjinta, among others.

During the relay for all invited schools, female athletes from Queens College dominated the track, while other competitors struggled far behind. While commending the sterling performance of the various athletes, the Managing Director, Loral International Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools, Chief Crawford Ndukwe, said the annual competition provided a unique opportunity to discover talented athletes that could be groomed for national and international sports engagements.

He described schools as catalyst of development in localities. He said the citing of Loral Boarding School on a virgin land at Igbesa, Ogun State, has attracted rapid development in the area, with residential homes springing up speedily.

Ndukwe explained that aside the social services rendered by schools in raising children and inculcating in them sound moral and academic discipline, they also speedy up the developmental pace of obscure localities.

“At the time Loral came here (Igbesa) in 1992, there was nothing anywhere. It was only this compound, our students and our staff. But now, you can see we have attracted a lot of development in this area and a lot of people, including our teachers, are buying land around here and building houses where they will live”, he said.

He said the introduction of digital learning in the school, through the use of customized electronic tablets and smart boards in classrooms have made learning an interactive experience for both the teachers and students of the school. He promised that the school would continue to invest in state-of-the-art learning facilities that would benchmark international standard.

Also speaking, the senior Principal of the school, Mrs. Ekwutosia Marta Osime, said the annual sports festival provided an opportunity to discover budding talents and groom them to professional standard. She said the school provides holistic education, blending both the academic with sports training for the overall benefit of the children.

Osime, who was the former Principal of Queens College, Yaba, urged the winning athletes to remain steadfast in training in order to set new records in their performances, noting that the outstanding athletes among them could pursue a rewarding career in sports.
