Monday 2oth February 2017 was a day of gun battle in Festac town and Amuwo Odofin LGA. At about 6pm, serious gunshots were heard from the 7th avenue axis as well as the Abule ado axis.
It was also reported that on Saturday while on patrol, a military officer, Lieutenant Diya was abducted by kidnappers.
So in a bid to find and rescue him from the hands of the dare devils,soldiers with the support of members of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) were making efforts to rescue him after receiving intelligence report that the abductors could be hiding in the area.
Despite the death sentence for kidnapping signed into law by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode recently, the gunmen who were said to be militants attacked the team of soldiers on patrol who were led by Lieutenant Diya in Festac on Saturday.
It created tension in the community as the Gunshots lasted for hours.
