Many Homeless As Structures Demolished At Oluti

Some hours ago , at  Adeola street in Oluti, Amuwo Odofin , demolition procedure kicked off and many rendered homeless as Evacuation of illegal occupants, demolition of structures  commenced.

Speaking to a resident , we discovered that The land is said to belong to the Delta state government, but people have encroached on it, living there, some have makeshift structures and some permanent. It appears there is no contesting the ownership of the land.

 According to our witness ,

It was totally peaceful, they also gave grace for people to move some their properties, those who have cars or vehicles parked were allowed to move them, only vehicles that had no one claiming it were eventually towed away.

They all have been given  up to 7 days n notice to clear out the place, so men of the Police task force came today to execute the evacuation.

They’ve been there for a very long time. I moved into the area about 8years ago, and they’ve been there before then. – Resident

Most of them are those truck pushing mallams, bike riders, hawkers, petty traders, some mechanic workshops and others of same category are there too.

No alternatives as at this time was made available for them .
